Electricity generation is the process of creating electricity from other forms of energy.
For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers. The other processes, electric power transmission and electricity distribution, are normally carried out by the electrical power industry.
Electricity is most often generated at a power station by electromechanical generators, primarily driven by heat engines fueled by chemical combustion or nuclear fission but also by other means such as the kinetic energy of flowing water and wind. There are many other technologies that can be and are used to generate electricity such as solar photovoltaics and geothermal power.
Electrificación del Caroni produces quality power, and was awarded by Business Initiative Directions (BID) during the Quality Summit Award Convention in New York by Jose E. Prieto, President and CEO of BID and Craig Miller, President of the QC100.

The EDF Group a leading player in the European energy industry, present in all areas of the electricity value chain, from generation to trading, and increasingly active in the gas chain in Europe. Leader in the French electricity market, the Group also has solid positions in the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy.
In the electricity sector, it has the premier generation fleet and customer portfolio in Europe and operates in strategically targeted areas in the rest of the world. The Group is also the leading network operator in Europe, giving a sound business model, equally balanced between regulated activities and those open to competition.
This situation is not sustainable: it increases greenhouse gas emissions, the main cause of climate change, and increases the cost of access to hydrocarbon resources.
Faced with these challenges, the EDF Group’s strategy consists of investing in building a sustainable energy future, reconciling economic growth, the preservation of the climate and the environment, supply security and reducing global inequalities.
